UPDATE: Slow Progress On Beaver Creek Fire
August 16, 2013
The streets of Sun Valley and Ketchum, Idaho blanketed with smoke. Firefighters doing everything from clearing vegetation to turning on the fake snow-making water cannons. All to target a threat described as - quote - "A giant Pacman with its mouth open." Nearly 23-hundred homes have been evacuated. Nearly 74-hundred more are at risk. Among them some of the most expensive real estate in the west. Multi-million dollar mansions owned by Hollywood celebrities. Bruce Willis's 8-thousand square foot vacation home now less than a mile from the fire zone. Firefighters battling the Beaver Creek wildfire were helped by cloud cover and plenty of manpower Sunday - more than 12-hundred people including the National Guard, 19 aircraft and 90 fire engines. Some ski resorts are even turning on snowmaking equipment to try to protect their mountains. The area needs the help since a low pressure system coming ashore on the West coast may whip up the flames.
