IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) A federal prosecutor says timely prosecution is a key in fighting child pornography because the appearance of victims can change quickly over a relatively short time.
Idaho U.S. Attorney Wendy Olson says child pornography investigations require skilled investigators searching thousands of images attempting to identify victims.
She says one of the goals is to get children away from abusers.
In 2006, U.S. attorneys handled 82.8 percent more child pornography cases than they did in 1994.
Olson says the reason for the increase is likely due to the prevalence of child pornography and easy access to it on the Internet.
