(BOISE, Idaho) -- Students at Meridian High School were sent home for the day Wednesday after the school lost power to the main building, The Idaho Statesman reports.

Officials at the school said that construction seemed to have caused the outage at the school, located at 1900 W. Pine Ave., which is currently in the middle of a five-year renovation plan. The power went out shortly before 9 a.m. when all 1,500 students were in class. Fire alarms were triggered and caused students to be evacuated from the building, the paper says.

Classes are expected to continue as scheduled on Thursday, according to The Idaho Statesman.
