Not A Gold Medal Decision

Something that "flew under the radar" this week in the news was the decision by the International Olympic Committee to drop wrestling for the 2020 Games.

No single sport is more intimately intertwined with the origins of the Olympics than wrestling, right?

It's been around since the 1896 games.

The IOC said wrestling could compete for an open slot in the games with baseball/softball, karate, squash, roller sports, sport climbing, wakeboarding and wushu ( I have no idea what this is...maybe it's a form of martial arts or Sushi speed eating)

I have to admit that I haven't watched much wrestling coverage in the past, but still, how can the IOC drop a sport that has such a tradition?

No to wrestling, but they can still give a gold medal to somebody for running and jumping around while twirling a ribbon??

I don't get it.
