The Lead Story

May 09, 2013 -- 10:36am
What a crazy week for news. The Cleveland kidnappings, Jodi Arias and Benghazi hearings. What's the lead? I led with Benghazi this morning. I think it's a matter of national security. The Cleveland kidnappings and the Jodi Arias trial are interesting. But I don't think they matter when it comes to the safety of Americans and whether the people who are in charge of keeping us safe are doing their job. And I'm not really suprised that the Cleveland kidnappings' 'hero', Charles Ramsey, has a criminal past. But he sure was fun to listen to on the radio describing how he 'saved' those women. Wonder what McDonalds is going to do now? That might be a lead story.

R.I.P George Jones

Apr 26, 2013 -- 11:44am
Sad day for this country music fan and no doubt millions of others. George Jones passed away this morning at the age of 81. The 'Possum', as he was known, was one of the artists whom I grew up with in this business. I remember being a sophomore in high school spinning records...yes....records for KVLH/KGOK radio in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma during the mid 80's. George Jones had a song called "The Corvette Song." At the time I hated country music. But I liked that song. But the 'Possum' is known for many other great songs. And when I get home today I'm going to pop open a cold one and listen to them. RIP George Jones. No one is ever going to fill your shoes.

Leftover Fajitas

Apr 12, 2013 -- 10:45am

So, last night I got hungry. I decided to spread some corn chips over a plate and cover them with fajita mix and cheese and microwave them to make nachos. Then I woke up with stomach cramps. I believe the culprit is the fajita mix. You see, it had been sitting in a plastic container in the refridgerator since Sunday afternoon. However, the cramps could be from some bug that has infected some kid who goes to school with my 5 year old son. That's because my buddy who is the father of one of my son's classmates called to cancel a cookout today because he is sick. Yeah...that's it. There's a bug going around my son's school! I can't wait to finish off the rest of that fajita mix tonight!

Being A Good Neighbor

Apr 03, 2013 -- 8:21am

The weather lately is awesome. My family and I are spending as much time outside as possible. At home, we're cooking out, listening to music, playing, reading and doing yard work. We keep the music down so as not to disturb my neighbors. I'm sure they appreciate it. Oh, another thing I'm sure that the neighbors appreciate is our privacy fence. You see, I've been sunbathing. Yeah. I've taken my shirt off outside on at least three occaisions over the past couple of weeks.

Bugged By All The Bugs

Mar 25, 2013 -- 7:24am

Well, I'm sick again. Seems this year my kids and the kids who go to school with my kids have unearthed several different strains of the common cold. The kind that makes your glands swell in your throat. Make you sneeze and cough, which hurts your throat. Swell your sinuses which hurts. Cause excessive mucous production which runs down the back of your throat and makes your mouth and throat hurt. Oh, and there's fever. That brings on weird dreams which won't let you sleep because they pick up where they left off when you fall back to sleep. Yeah, it's been a banner year in the Weaver household for colds. Oh yeah, my daughter was diagnosed with what is called Adenoiditis last fall. Never heard of that one. I don't think I caught that one. And I have managed to escape a severe case of the stomach flu. Oh well, I think I hear another basketball game starting. I'm out.

The Good List

Mar 11, 2013 -- 7:35am

Today was not bad being outside. It was warm enough in the sun but too cool for my liking in the shade. I drank nearly three cups of coffee and enjoyed listening to Jimi Hendrix and Lynyrd Skynyrd. I drink a lot of coffee and listen to music, a lot. And I like all kinds of music. And I'm excited about some new bands that have gained notoriety, like The Black Keys. I think there are only three members in that band but those dudes create a lot of sound. Another great thing about today is that I got to spend some quality time with my family.
